We've got some serious looking ice dams that are causing some water to come inside - eek! Can anyone recommend someone to remove them for us? I looked in the home services tag, but didn't find anything.

Thanks!

Stealth Construction is *right this moment* up on our roof dealing with this for us. It cost us just about $500, they have three guys who have been here 2 hours up on 30' ladders (we have a tall house). It's beginning to get dark out, but they're still working away at it.

We like Stealth because the quote a price, do the work, then invoice for the amount they quoted. We've used other contractors for other jobs who quoted a price, dithered for a while, then said that because it's an old house something came up that made it cost 20% more. Now we use Stealth for everything because they know old Somerville houses and shoot you straight about them.

We've been using a stocking with ice melt somewhat successfully.

Knotting the stocking to the ice melt doesn't bunch up, and attaching a rope so the water can drip in the desired path have both been helpful.

In case it takes a while to find/get a contractor to help out. I've had trouble getting Stealth Construction to return my calls, for example.
