Hello.

I'm driving across country in a little over a week and want to take my car in for a tune-up, new brake pads..etc, before I go. Can somebody recommend a place around here that is quick and reasonably priced?

I always recommend ABJ Foreign Auto (who fix domestic cars too). They're very good about getting good prices on parts and making sure things are done properly, and Al is a really nice guy who genuinely cares about the work his shop does. From Davis, go out Highland Ave, turn left past City Hall and then turn left again onto Medford St, and they're on the right just after the bridge over the railroad tracks.

er.. i don't actually own a car, but I did take a friends car there for a tune-up similar to what your looking for and for the same reasons. He was driving cross county & wanted everything checked out to make sure the car would make it there & back. They were *very* thorough, and the price wasn't bad either.

I've been happy with Streetwise, near Somerville Ave and the old 608 Club. They're very friendly and good about explaining things, and they use good parts. 617-625-8000.
