I noticed in the last couple of days that Pat's Towing in Union Sq. has emptied their lot and put up a sign that they have moved. Where did they go? Nothing is updated on their web site that I can find.

It's information I hope I never have to use, but it's good to know where the tow lot is when they take your car.

There's a small storefront in Magoun Sq. at the intersection of Lowell and Medford with a shiny new "Pat's Towing" sign.

that sure doesn't seem like a big enough place for a tow lot!

ETA: Their web site is updated and now says 503A Medford Street, Somerville, MA 02145, which is indeed in Magoun Square.

At 12:53 pm, I got a phone call with caller ID "UNKNOWN NUMBER". The caller said "You internet troll, don't mess with my tow company" and hung up.

(ETA 6/12/15 5:23 pm: I'm editing out the speculation I posted earlier about the identity of the person who called me.)

Do you have any idea why they called you? That is, why did they call you?

no idea, since he said just those sentences (more or less) and then hung up.

A developer is probably going to build multimillion dollar luxury condo units on the old site.

And for once, I wouldn't object at all ;-)

I was told by a city DPW worker we were casually chatting with that the property has been leased for to a hotel. Second or third hand info. I had prior 1st hand info that the owners of the property were seeking to lease it, so it sounds believable.

I would rather have an office building or something that puts more jobs in the city. Regardless, anything is better than a tow yard, I hope more properties in that area change a hotel would provide some benefits too.

As for the location of the lot where towed cars will be stored:

"Pat's Towing is currently operated out of two locations. Payment for the tow charges will be taken at 503A Medford St. Somerville, MA (Magoun Sq). Motor vehicles will be picked up at 142 Mystic Ave Medford, MA (After payment is made). If necessary customers will be shuttled from the Medford St Office to 142 Mystic Ave free of charge from Magoun Sq by Pat’s Tow."

Oh boy! A ride with a surly Pat's employee is just the thing after first having to schlep over to the police station in Union Square to pay the fine, then back over to the other side of town to pay those slimeballs. Three stops instead of 2! Bonus, you get to visit 2 cities as well as part of the deal.

At least you used to be able to walk from the police station over to the tow yard to retrieve your kidnapped/ransomed, ahem, I mean towed car.

I wonder how much Pat pays Joe?
