I've never been to this store, but people have repeatedly praised it in this community. So I'm bringing you the sad news that it is closing this summer.

I was just there and there is still a lot left at 50% off. Didn't have time to go through it thoroughly, but lots and lots of fabric left. I am very sad it is closing.

Sorry, I was in sort of a hurry, so I didn't pay a lot of attention because I was in for one thing. There were signs both saying 30% and 50% off. I think the trim I got was 50%. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Oh, bummer. Where's the next-closest fabric store? Boston in Chinatown, maybe?

The shopping mall part of Twincity plaza has always been a part of Somerville. It is right on the border with Cambridge, thus the name. Only the skating rink and the little park are actually in East Cambridge.

I'll bet the McDonald's there still gives out receipts that say "Sommerville."

Another close store (caveat: I've not checked it out) is Fabric Corner (http://www.fabriccornerinc.com/) on Mass Ave in Arlington on the corner of Mill St just to other side of Arlington Center on the 77 route.

Fabric Corner is a fine fabric store. Though if you're looking for notions it's not really fully stocked. Sure, they'll have scissors and thread and basic things you need, but the selection is not super extensive in that area. Otherwise, they have a wide variety of fabrics.

Oh no! It's such a great fabric store. I loved going in when I lived a couple of blocks from it.

The sign inside said they are retiring. I would love to see it remain open with a new owner, but that building needs a major overhaul. There are spots that feel like you will fall through the floor, and it is so overcrowded it is hard to find things.

The building has actually been sold and I know they condos upstairs are all being re-done. I have a friend who lives just above Sew Low who is moving because of it.
