so i've never actually been to this, though i think i'm going to make a concerted effort one of these weeks to get home early enough to check it out (is half an hour enough time?).
just wanted to get an idea of how much stuff they sold there. as in, is it do-able to just show up, and by the time you leave have lots of goodies to make dinner with? anyone have recipe suggestions using farmer's market ingredients?
how does the union square one compare? i'm debating checking that one out vs. haymarket this weekend.

Date: 2005-09-20 03:15 am (UTC)what kinds of things do you end up making for dinner? i'm so used to going off of recipes, so it's different for me to concuct a recipe using what we have vs. buying what you know you need. just trying to get an idea so i can prepare for wednesday!

Date: 2005-09-09 03:18 am (UTC)In contrast, the Davis farmer's market has local, often organic, produce. It's seasonal and in my opinion higher quality food than you'll find at Haymarket. Also, the Davis Square farmer's market is really open until about 6:30 -- you can usually buy goods while people are packing up.
This past week there was plenty of bread, some good cheese, lots of green leafy vegetables, some onions, potatoes (I think) and a good amount of squash. The market really shines with heirloom vegetables -- they have vegetables that simply aren't available at Whole Foods or the generic grocery store.
Next week there will be oysters.
I haven't been to the farmer's market in Union.
