Cool green cafe tables and chairs at Kenney Park

I've been away from the Square itself for a while – when did the cafe tables and chairs appear at Kenney Park?


I posted some criticism over the delays of the park renovation so I have to say that the city did a great job – lots of seating and small grassy areas, the play area looks fine and it's great to see the kids playing in the fountain.

And a month later, here's a Somerville ResiStat blog post about the experiment. Sounds like a great success!

A few years ago, Mimi Graney at Union Square Main Streets tried something similar in the plaza there. Unfortunately, many of the chairs then got stolen and she had to end the experiment :-(

A drag about the Union Sq chairs but from the photo, they look like the were too nice . . . and not green like Paris chairs
