Watch out if you walk by 240 Elm Street!

This afternoon, welding sparks fell on me as I walked on the temporary Elm Street "sidewalk" by the ex-Social Security building. I wasn't burned or otherwise hurt, but this is dangerous.

Nobody here will be very surprised that construction there is falling behind city-imposed deadlines.

It actually feels like they've been working as quickly as they can since the Elm St shutdown a few weeks back.

Agreed. They don't appear to be dragging their heels, anyway. There are people doing stuff, at least?

Yes. But perhaps they should close off that temporary sidewalk entirely while they are welding above it? Having glowing embers fall into my hair was disconcerting. People walking towards me saw that and then crossed the street.

They're working very diligently to meet the city's tight deadlines. And as we all know, there's nothing safer than a new building rushed to completion! ;)
