Fire at Pepe Boca?

Just saw the boarded up window at Pepe Boca this afternoon. Does anyone know what happened?

Some loser piece of **** went around setting fires last night. Also set one near the Diesel but an employee saw it and grabbed an extinguisher.
The owners of Pepe have been working so hard since they opened. How much of a low life do you have to be to do this??

That's awful. Do you know if this person was caught, and if he set fires anywhere else besides Diesel and Pepe Boca?

I went by this morning, while the board-up crew was working. Definitely a fire, although it looks like at least part of the store was spared.

As a follow-up, folks on Hungry Onion talked to the owner, who says that they already have building permits to fix the damage (mostly contained to one front window, with none of the food prep area affected) and will be reopen by Halloween. To the best of their knowledge, it was caused by a faulty neon sign in the window and was not arson.

Schwew! Not that I'm relieved it was a neon sign but the thought of someone walking around setting random fires is super disturbing. This is a great family business that is working really hard to make a go of it. PS. They have an amazing cheese selection!

Very sorry, the Diesel employee that put out the trashcan fire incorrectly got info that the same thing happened behind them. (Fires were at the same time) Sorry for the confusion.

So someone *did* intentionally set a fire at Diesel, they just didn't go around setting other fires?
