I got this e-mail from Young Somerville Advisory Group today:

I am excited to invite you to the re-launch event of the Young Somerville Advisory Group! RSVP here! A team of us has been working together to think about the best role that the Advisory Group fills in our City-- and we've decided that it all starts with building community among young people of all backgrounds and interests.

Join us at Brass Union in Union Square next Tuesday evening, 12/8, at 6:30pm. We are hoping for a good turnout of both old and new members of the Advisory Group, as well as anyone just curious about the community we're hoping to build! In addition, we will be joined by key City staff from different departments who will briefly discuss some of the topics that you all mentioned most interested you during the survey this summer (such as affordable housing and transportation).

RSVP on EventBrite here or on Facebook here! All are welcome, so please drag along a few friends or roommates! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at youngsomervilleadvisorygroup@gmail.com. Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Cheers,

Simon and the YSAG team

Ron you received this email, were you involved with this group previously? Just curious how this group existed before and if they worked directly with youth in the city who were not already engaged in other activities; why did they need to re-launch it?

The group has been dormant / in-active for a few years, so a relaunch makes sense. To clarify, this is an advisory group *for* younger residents, to discuss local political issues of interest to this population (eg affordable housing).

Oh that makes sense. Yes I wasn't sure if this was an organization that works with younger (youth) adults like ages 10-19 or something similar; but like Ron had noted it's more young adult 21-35 which is good also :-)
