I'm pretty sure that I've always received notices in the mail about parking permit renewal, and I know that I've done these renewals online for at least the past two years. I realized this week that I never got a notice about my permits that expire at the end of February, and so I decided to just renew them online. When I went to log in, the system said that there was no record of my account, and I had to set up a new account and submit proof of residency. (Probably I could have phoned, but at this point it just seemed easier to resubmit all my information and hope it is approved and processed in time.) I'm just curious if this was an isolated incident, and whether other people got notices to renew their B-zone parking permits.

I just got the same message and I have ordered permits through there many times. I also have not received anything in the mail from the city yet and my permit is up in March. I've always received notice by mid-February.

We tried to renew last month and had the exact same issues, despite doing it in the past. When I went in person to renew it, the clerk said the site was not working. So they know, but don't seem to be in much of a hurry to fix it. There was a long line when I went.

I *think* if you got that success message, it should be okay? As for me, I had starting putting an annual reminder in my calendar after not getting a reminder notice in the mail two years ago. So, this year I went online to renew my permit on Feb 1st. My new issue was that it wouldn't let me upload documents for proof of residency -- so after trying multiple browsers and getting the same error, I e-mailed the T&P e-mail address with all the information from the order and a PDF of the document residency. One or two business days later, I received an e-mail back saying I was approved and could pay for the permits in my cart through the website, and I did so with no more online errors, and accordingly have now received the permit in the mail.

I can't even log in to the system with my current permit, so I'm just going to go in person I guess.

I had a similar experience for a permit expiring in Jan. No renewal reminder, and after I filled in the application part I never received the approval email. A week or two later I tried logging in again and found I was approved and was able to pay and received my permits.

I contacted the City (traffic@somervillema.gov) and they said they changed vendors recently and would pass along the feedback to the vendor. They wrote back quickly, so that's a good way to contact if needed.

you're doing better than i did - i got someone else's renewal notice in the mail (which was actually ok, since my permit expires the end of this month and i needed the reminder), but when i tried to renew my permit online, i got a message that my address wasn't valid. so i called the parking office twice and was told they've got a new system and my account number doesn't work any more and i guess i'm not in the system anyway. i'm supposed to get an email when they've fixed it, but i haven't yet. i may or may not have to pretend i'm new at this and go stand in line next thursday, which will probably be easier than trying to renew my permit online.

There wasn't a record of my account either, so I went outside to retrieve the numbers on the permit in the window (which was supposed to allow account access). That didn't work either, but I think I just created a new account. I uploaded the required document, got approval a day later, and received the sticker in the mail shortly thereafter. I still haven't put the sticker on my window, however, because last weekend it was 10 below. I'm hoping for some warm weekend weather before the end of the month. I think February is the worst month of the year in which to scrape off old permits.

They misspelled my last name for my account, so every year when I log in, I have to use the misspelling or I see no record of my account. If there is no record of your account, it might be worth looking for last year's e-mail to see how they spelled your name. Or try common misspellings of your name.

Same thing. My permit expires end of February. Got promo card in mail to go online. You have to create a new account since it's a new online site, I think. I couldn't download a document showing proof of residency (which I shouldn't have to do anyway). So, went this morning to traffic office at 9am. 30 minute wait. Took her 3 minutes to renew permit. Guess they need to tweak the new online system. Not perfect yet. If you renew in person, give yourself time.
