Yumi is open as usual today

Despite this post yesterday, Yumi was open when I walked by it this afternoon. I talked to an employee (or maybe the owner) through the open window, and he said they are always closed on Mondays ... but that doesn't explain someone finding it closed on Wednesday evening.

I wonder if there's a cultural norm in Japan (if the people who own and operate these restaurants are from there) that restaurants open and close really randomly. My bus route goes past this ramen joint in Porter Square--name is something like Yume wa kitaro--and it's closed as often as not. There doesn't seem to be any pattern or schedule in terms of when it's open or when it's closed.
