Dunkin Donuts will return to 240 Elm Street

A permit, issued yesterday and posted on the door, says "DUNKIN DONUTS TENANT IMPROVEMENT."

Looks like the DD entrance will be at the east end of the building, next to Buffalo Exchange, while the supermarket entrance will be at the corner of Chester and Elm. I believe the plan is still to have an openable partition between the Dunks and the grocery store, so that they can keep different hours if desired.

(We still don't know who the supermarket will be.)

I noticed the door-shaped area down there and wondered (hoped!) if that's what it was for; back when the grocery store gave its presentation, having a DD at that end with a separate entrance was part of their floorplan.

Is a supermarket confirmed? That would be so great. Hope it is not too "specialty" and is affordable.

I have nothing official to report, but the entire construction project at 240 Elm Street is using the permit that was granted to Roche Bros. before they pulled out.

According to a supervisor-type guy on the site who I spoke with a month ago, the grocery store will be "bfresh." The plan is to open in June. (A bfresh opened in Allston last year.)

Here's the bfresh website, and a Boston Globe article about the Allston store opening. It's a division of Stop & Shop's parent, Royal Ahold. They've only opened two stores so far.

Fingers crossed, it looks like it could be a good fit in DS, with a mix of fresh & on-site prepared foods.
Hope the prices are ok.
