Darwin's Ltd (Mt Auburn St. and Cambridge St between Harvard and Inman) closes at 9.

1369 in Inman closes at 10, 11 on weekends. 1369 in Central closes at 11 except Sunday, at 10.

Rossini's on Highland Ave near the Somerville Hospital is open until 9 and 10 on Friday and Saturday. (They may be open until 10 some other nights, but I'm not sure about it.) They also have the best baked goods of any cafe in the area.

And I love the fact that they sell a teeny little 8 oz. coffee.

That good? I drive by it twice every day and never stop in. I mean it's right up the street, what am I waiting for? Will you let me borrow some of your willpower for when I go?

Cafe Algiers is open until midnight and often has lots of students working hard in the same room. I'm not sure how crowded it gets, but it's worth a shot.

I love the Starbucks in Arlington for this. I go there a lot for writing papers.

I like Starbucks, so that's not an issue.

I'm not sure how late it is open, but Peet's in Harvard Square is also a good choice. Algiers is someplace that you can sit a long time, but their menu is way overpriced..

True Grounds is only open until 7 (wah). Tealuxe is open until 10 on Sundays and 11 the rest of the time. O'Natural's, on Elm St outside Davis, is open until 8 and has free wireless, but I find it sterile and sorta depressing.

Diesel starts clearing out around 10:30, at least during the week, if you need to roam from somewhere else and want that extra 90 minutes. Believe me, I've been scoping out everything.

Also, glad to hear that about Simon's, I've never been there.
