Spring Clean-up Saturday at 10AM!!

Please join me Saturday morning the annual Spring Clean-up! Arrive at 10AM at the Davis Square Statue Park (plaza in front of JP Licks) or enjoy a free breakfast at the kickoff ceremony at Blessing of the Bay Boathouse at 9AM. Buses from BotB and back will be available for anyone who wants to also join the community BBQ at noon. Refreshments, t-shirts, hats, and all clean-up gear will be provided (but feel free to bring your favorite work gloves if you prefer!). And bring friends: the more people that sign in, the bigger grant we are eligible to receive from Comcast! Forecast calls for a sunny day so remember a hat or sunscreen.  More info here.

Why have this on the same weekend as Somerville open studios?

There's not much overlap. The cleanup is Saturday from 10-12. Open Studios doesn't start until 12:00 and is open Saturday and Sunday. The only time overlap is the BBQ on Saturday from 12-2.

I'm thinking daily sun exposure, being at open studios promptly, and not showing up at open studios grubby. And that six hours of walking around Somerville is tiring for fairly-sedentary me, so adding two hours of physical work before that is a lot.

And before hearing about the cleanup, a friend and I had put some time into pouring over the open studios guide and plotting possible routes for all three days to try to see most of what we want to see. Ditching three hours of open studio time for the bbq and a shower would put a big dent in that.

I do, thank you! My previous attempts at trying to take the trolley did not go well, but possibly the logistics have improved since then. But even if it showed up when I whistled for it, the trolley would only be so much help when I want to go to a bunch of places that are half a trolley stop or less apart. :)
