somerville ave parcel

Does anyone know what's happening with the land on Somerville Ave, where they were talking about putting a new fire station? I haven't seen any updates on it and am intensely curious.

I couldn't believe anyone would actually mount a campaign against a fire station.

The complaints I remember were from those who considered it a sweetheart deal - paying more than it was worth to a friend of the mayor for a parcel with water problems. Whether any of that was true, I don't know.

Some may have felt housing or commercial development was a better use of that property.

There was a lot of controversy about the plans for fire station and training facility in that neighborhood a year ago, but I don't see further info about it when I google the topic.
