Not to butt in, but geographically it's in Somerville, and is one of Somerville's strongest points of pride and identity. Cambridge has plenty of that on it's own, has it's own squares and attractions, while Somerville has considerably fewer and strongly values Davis as an important economic hot-spot.

Wouldn't it be fairer, and more accurate, to call it "davis Square, Somerville?" I've never heard the term Cambridge-Davis used, ever.

Mmm. I'm just glad Davis Square has been given back to Somerville. Hope there wasn't any serious loss of life during the harrowing Cantabrigian Occupation.

We'll I'm no expert... I just took the five minutes to check it over, go "hmm" and sigh up. But I think the general idea is that it uses your actual Internet connection to associate you with whatever network you're physically close to. Presumably over time, lots of 'places' ('Our Cool Apartment Bldg', 'My Office', the local coffee house, blah blah) get added.

Now you and your trusty laptop head out down the street (or town, or country) and fire it up. You automagically see both the networks *and* the (cool and technologically progressive) peeps that are attached. You strike up conversations, find that person (sitting beside you) who is also interested in pythons (or Python), etc. Friendships are made, businesses are formed, romances blossom and the world is generally a better place and we all have a group hug.

Or something like that.
