Help needed to house (and feed) HONK!ers

A friend of mine is helping with the HONK! festival and she just let me know that the organizers are still trying to help 50 (!) of the musicians find places to stay,  and the event is fast approaching (it's Oct. 11-12). They are looking for people who live in the  general Somerville and Cambridge area who would be willing to accomodate some musicians for the Friday and Saturday nights (some on Sunday as well).

Many of the musicians who participate in this event travel from great distances, and it's a stretch for a lot of them to get here with all their instruments and gear to start with, so helping them out with housing is important to making the event happen. And you also get to have some potentially cool and interesting people stay with you for a few days.

I know that this community has been enthusiastic about the HONK! fest in previous years, and figured many of you would appreciate the opportunity to help.  If you're interested, just shoot me a message or comment below or email Amanda directly at noteaparty@yahoo.com.

There's also a brunch on Sunday morning before the parade, and they are looking for folks to donate prepared food; see below for more on that.

Dunno if you are already familiar with HONK!, the festival of activist street bands that takes place in Davis Square over Columbus Day weekend. It is a super fun, joyous event for all ages and free to attend so I hope you can make it. The HonkFest organizing committee is bringing 25 street bands from all over the country, and some international bands, and, as you can imagine, it is quite a challenge to raise the funds to get them here.

But you can help, without giving any actual money! There is a brunch on Sunday morning, October 12th, at which we will provide food for the approximately 350 musicians before they parade from Davis Square down to Harvard Square.

CAN YOU DONATE SOME FOOD?

Brunch will be on October 12 from 9:30 to 11/12 on Sunday at Sacco's Bowl Haven, 45 Day Street, in Davis Square (the parade will convene there). If you can bring something down at around 9/9:30, it would hugely appreciated. There are no cooking facilities, so it needs to be ready to eat. If necessary, we can pick some things up from people. We are also still searching for places for musicians to sleep, the closer to Davis Sq the better; let me know if you'd like to offer housing to some musicians! Thank you!

I want to put a plug in for housing HONK musicians. We housed 2 families last year, and enjoyed their company so much, that we invited the same people to stay with us this year. The musicians are not expecting luxurious accomodations. Your couch or a little floor space would make someone happy.
