Community meeting on BU biocontainment labs

From a phone message received today:

Hello, this is an important message from the National Institutes of Health.

On October 14 we’ll be holding a meeting of the NIH Blue Ribbon Panel for the risk assessment of the national emerging infectious diseases laboratories at Boston University Medical Center.

The purpose of the meeting is to get public input on recommendations that the panel is developing for community engagement in the planning and oversight of regional and national biocontainment laboratories funded by the NIH.

We would welcome your input at this meeting, which will take place from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Tuesday, October 14 at the Roxbury Center for the Arts at Hibernian Hall. The Roxbury Center for the Arts is located at 184 Dudley St., a short walk from Dudley T stop. We hope to see you there.

I got that too. Somerville is some distance from BU Medical Center. Did they robo-call every household within N miles of the facility?

Like Ron said- I bet they are required to call every listed phone number in certain mile radius. So if all of Boston and the surrounding cities turn into Raccoon city, at least we were forewarned. <-( I am just kidding I do not believe something like that will happen, it's my halloween spirit)

Maybe the economy will tank right when the zombie virus is unleashed, so it can be a cross between Raccoon City and LIBERTY City.

the RE and GTA reference made me laugh - thank you...i wonder how many people understand exactly what that combination would look like? maybe we should get together and script it and lobby SCEA to put this together? it would be more exciting than crappy Haze or Bio(whatever).

I got it too in Winter Hill and my take-away is that "they" think I'm close enough to the potential facility that I should want to be better informed. I have no objection to a heads-up for this reason.

I got that call too, I live in Teele Sq.

I answered then hung up a quarter of the way through and I kept picking my phone up for a min or so after to use and the recording would still be talking. I tried calling the number back and it just rings and rings.
