My boyfriend's birthday is on Sunday and I'm looking to do something with him in the afternoon, relatively local. Any suggestions? Could be music, could be a hike, could be a gallery....whatever. Love to hear suggestions

The Mt. Auburn cemetery in Watertown is a beautiful walk. There's a tower you can climb up and get a great view of the city. I'd recommend getting some picknicky goodies here first: http://www.sofrabakery.com/

There's a concert Sunday at Sanders Theater (http://www.coroallegro.org/season/november_concert). Also, Allston Open Studios (http://www.allstonarts.org/).

DeCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln (only about 15 minutes by car) A hike and a gallery combined in one trip. Reserve a pass from the library to get in for free.

I know of something awesome happening right in the square, but it's at 8pm...if you change the timing requirements, let me know.

You could come see the Singer Songwriter Series at the Burren Sunday night. My favorite folk singer is playing there.

Drumlin Farm is a beautiful Audubon Sanctuary with lovely trails and farm animals and whatnot. You can get there on the "Purple Line" as my daughter calls it (Commuter Rail).

The Arnold Arboretum in JP is a beautiful walk.

The Harvard Museum of Natural History has some stunning exhibits, including the galss flowers and the recently reopened great hall. It's free for Mass. residents on Sunday mornings (if you get there just before noon, it's still sort of an afternoon outing, right?)

If you or your boyfriend are book nerds (like me) the Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair is happening. Old and rare books, maps, things like that. If you like first editions it's really pretty neat, and the entrance fee is like $8 or something.

Chelsea City Cafe (http://www.chelseacity.com/) has reasonably priced brunch with free Latin music 11:30am-2pm, plus local artist's work on display.

(full disclosure: the Latin music is by my band (http://www.myspace.com/lasaboricuas))
