[identity profile] talonvaki.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] davis_square

This started out as an ad for catsitters while I'm away for Thanksgiving, but a coworker offered...I was going to delete the post, but the responses are great and...I got an idea.
We could turn this into a Catsitting Coop! I've added it to memories; if you would like to sit or be sat, comment and come back...

(My boys' description from the original post:)

I have two older Siamese boys (14.5 and 11) who would need to be looked in on once every day or so. "Looking in on" them would entail making sure they have food and water, scooping the litter box, and a little petting and socialising. They're smart, sweet boys (see icon). If you are able and willing, the older, Seal Point, boy needs a pill every day for his thyroid...but he's not easy or cooperative about this, being a crotchety old man, and he won't die without his pills for 5 days.

I'm right between Davis and Porter Squares. If you are not leaving town, live nearby and want to look after a couple of sweet old cats, let me know. You will be repaid, either in cash, or goodies from Florida, or reciprocation in kind (I'm not going anywhere at Christmas/New Years this year, if you are and you have cats needing attention).

I could just leave them huge bowls of food and water and an extra little box, but they really do like to have people around, and they'll be happier this way...

I would be interested and I live between the two squares as well. Could you email me at this screenname at livejournal dot com with an identifying subject line? i'd love an excuse to pet a couple of cats for a few days.

Hi -
Glad you found someone to sit your cats. You mentioned giving a thyroid pill to your older cat; I also have a cat with a thyroid problem and the vet prescribed medication that can be applied to the inner ear rather than being given in pill form. It's utterly painless for both of us... (giving cats pills is like wrestling alligators). My vet is Jane O'Donnell at Winter Hill Vet (she's great). Don''t know if that is an option for your cat but it might be worth asking about.

I would love to cat-sit! I'm petless now and would be very happy to play with someone else's pets for a few days.

Just to add to the thread-- I am an experience dpet-sitter (cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, etc.) living in the Davis area who will be heading to vet school eventually. I'm also experienced giving meds and insulin shots to cats. If anyone is looking for a pet/house sitter, please feel free to contact me at pierce.ke at gmail dot com.
