Somewhere along the line my kiddo has become extremely anxious about going to the dentist, despite the fact that she's never been.

Can anyone recommend a dentist that does a great job of giving anxious kids a good and fun first dentist experience?

Smiles By Rosie in east Somerville is amazing, but I don’t know if they’re taking new patients now.

Recommend *against* the Al-Aswad dentistry practice, where my kid and I were traumatized by the unsympathetic manner some years ago.

I gave *someone* a worm bin and am terrible at details, so it seems likely.

Smiles by Rosie is halfway like going to a spa. (I am guessing, I have never been to a spa.). Very considerate, calming, with a lovely atmosphere.

I had a very good, kind, compassionate experience at Dental Arts Davis Square. I'm not sure whether they specifically do pediatric dentistry but worth checking out.

C is right, Smiles by Rosie is awesome. More than awesome. Tell 'em you know one or both of us, and it might get you in -- they're way oversubscribed.

We really like Cambridge Pediatric Dental at the intersection of Mass Ave and Linnean. They reward patients with stickers, bling, *and* toothbrushes with the picture of your choice on them (as long as your choice is either princesses or cars, which annoys the heck out of me but pleases my kid). And their gloves are purple -- what more could you want?

We've been really, really happy with Lorna Lally (on College near Powderhouse). Our whole family has been going there for the last decade, and everyone is happy (both my older child with bad dental hygene habits yet beautiful teeth and the conscientious younger one and her... more challenging... dentistry).

My family all ended up at Lorna Lally after our longtime dentist retired. Granted, we rarely see Dr Lally herself, but her staff are nice.

OP, how old is your child? I ask because we started taking our daughter to a few of our dental check-ups when she was old enough (2? 3?) so she could get familiar with the procedure. And of course, there are children's books about going to the dentist.
