BREAKING: PROTESTS CALLED FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 5 PM LOCAL TIME

Donald Trump has installed a crony to oversee the special counsel's Trump-Russia investigation, crossing a red line set to protect the investigation. By replacing Rod Rosenstein with just-named Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker as special counsel Robert Mueller's boss on the investigation, Trump has undercut the independence of the investigation. Whitaker has publicly outlined strategies to stifle the investigation and cannot be allowed to remain in charge of it. The Nobody Is Above the Law network demands that Whitaker immediately commit not to assume supervision of the investigation. Our hundreds of response events are being launched to demonstrate the public demand for action to correct this injustice. We will update this page as the situation develops.

Naturally, the Boston one is planned for Boston Common, across Beacon St. from the State House. None listed for Somerville or Cambridge so far.

I don't know of one for Cambridge or Somerville, but here's one at Arlington Town Hall. I don't know if it is indoors or outdoors. EDIT: I emailed the organizer via the event's contact form. She says it is outdoors on the steps of Town Hall.

I just looked at the list. New York City had a separate entry for "Bronx" and then "Sorry, this event is full," which suggests they're trying to gather larger crowds.

I don't know what it would mean for such an event to be "full" unless it's indoors

In terms of the software, it means that instead of saying something like "Van Cortlandt Park, 5 p.m., host Ron N." the entry for that location just says "this event is full." I'm guessing that they don't have a "cancel event" option (because "this event has been cancelled" or "moved to Times Square" would be clearer).

I went to the Boston rally. So heartening to see and hear so many people there. Got home in time to catch the coverage of the rally on NBC10-Boston.

Did they have a crowd estimate? I couldn't see much once it got dark.

The TV folks guesstimated about 2000. I thought rather more, though, yeah, hard to see in dark.

And quite a few more once we add in all of the suburban rallies, such as the one I attended in Arlington. That got at least 300 people and probably many more.

I would put it at 2-3 thousand minimum from my view on the ground, but it's quite possible that it was higher.
