haircut

hi. i need a haircut. these are details i consider relevant when looking to fulfill this need:
- i am east asian and have That Kind of Hair
- despite needing a cut, my hair is short - a bit like the bowlcut of yore
- i am a female but don't want anything too butchy or too femmey.
- i don't want to spend more than $30 on a cut. the cheaper, the better. like some tiny hole-in-the-wall barber for $12 is fine by me, as long as they do an ok job.

i am an unfortunate mix of mildly picky and cheap. i'm not sure which i'd rather sacrifice.

All of my straight haired friends (anglo straight hair, but straight nonetheless) swear by Umberto at Mario's on Holland. I've known 4 straight haired people, male and female, from bob-length to near-crew cut to go to him with great pleasure. He's between $20-25.

i have wavy, non-asian hair but i'd like to chip in that i've been to mario's too and whoever did my hair (he cost $30 and i don't remember the name; tall and bald with a beard i think) did a nice job with it. umberto also did nice things with my friend's [super curly] hair when she had to cut it short for a show; she gave him the picture of the hairstyle that the director of her show wanted her to get, and he immediately nixed it and came up with a similar cut much better suited to her hair type and face.
