Bear sighting in Medford

Okay a bit out of the square, but sufficiently noteworthy: there's been a black bear sighting in Medford, near Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

A message from CITY OF MEDFORD

Hello, this is Acting Chief Barry Clemente with an informational message. There have been black bear sightings in the Lincoln Road area in the last 12 hours. Our animal control officer has been notified along with the Environmental Police. We ask that you take precautions be securing your trash and any pet food, including birdfeeders that might be attracting the bear. Don't put your trash out the night before it is to be collected. If there is a sighting, keep a safe distance from the bear and call Medford Police. We appreciate your cooperation.
