Hello, everyone. I've lived in Somerville since 1984 and in Davis Square since 1992, but I only this month learned about this LiveJournal community. Some of you may know me from local political activities, or from the Somerville Bicycle Committee, or from my comments on The Somerville News website.
A few newbie questions:
- Are there other LiveJournal communities for other parts of Somerville, or for Cambridge?
- Do people here get together for face-to-face meetups?
- Anyone know what's going into the vacant storefronts of Mini Mart and Buck-a-Book?

Date: 2005-11-24 05:05 pm (UTC)I don't remember any meetings specifically organized for this LJ community, but lots of the people tend to know each other, because we use this community to find roommates, publicize events, talk about where we've been and what we saw in Davis Square, all sorts of things that connect people.

Date: 2005-11-24 06:30 pm (UTC)There probably are informal face-to-face meetups, and I've met people face to face when posting about my yard sale, cat sitting, leaf raking, etc. I don't think there's been a formal meet up, but I'd like it if there were. :-)

I've made some contributions in the past year to the campaigns of Carl Sciortino, Pat Jehlen and Rebekah Gewirtz.
