...and I haven't seen this asked yet! So, in your opinion, where can I get the best christmas tree locally? Preferably something nice and fresh. It will be my first live tree so I'm trying to do this right :)
Thanks!!

There's a Christmas tree lot in Union Square (where flowers are
in the summer and pumpkins in the fall). I haven't gone there
to see the quality of thr trees, however.

For real freshness, and environmental sustainability, you can get a living pine tree at many nurseries. Pemberton Farms is just outside of Porter Square on Mass Ave (about 4 blocks towards Arlington from Porter and only 2 blocks from Davis) and might have them. But they are pricey there, since they are in Cambridge. If you have a motor vehicle, and are willing to shlep out to the suburbs, there are several good nurseries in Lexington just off of Mass Ave, as well as many in the more rural towns like Concord. There is also a garden center in Union Square, though I've not been impressed with the guy who owns the place (seems kind of sexist).

We always get ours at the place in the IHOP parking lot in Brighton on Soldier's Field Road. They always have lovely trees, and tie it onto your car for you.

Christmas tree sales to benefit various Somerville Public Schools and programs.

About 600 trees from Nova Scotia will be delivered Thursday and the sale will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Foss Park. The trees will be sold Dec. 2-19 at Foss Park, and Dec. 9-19 at the garden center at Kmart.

Hours of the sales will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The price range for the trees remains the same as it has in the past five years, with a table-top size tree for $9, and larger trees costing $19, $29 and $39.

The proceeds from the tree sales will benefit events and programs at Next Wave-Full Circle, the Healey, the Capuano Center, West Somerville Neighborhood School, Lincoln Park and the Somerville High School football team.

I concur. I have bought trees at a couple places, but this one always has good quality and it supports good things. Also, the kids will load the tree on your car and tie it down for you.

I liked Idlewylde farms off Exit 41 on Rte. 2. Turn left off the exit ramp, it's around a mile after that. They have boughs and holly and *real* mistletoe as well. Not to mention just about anything else you could ever want.

i've gone to the boy scout lot at cameron & mass ave in the past, but that space is being developed now. not sure where they've relocated.

pemberton also has nice trees. a bit on the pricey side but quality.

i'd like to know who has a selection of small trees. unfortunately, i can't get a live tree because i've no where to plant it afterwards, so it'd be just as bad as a cut tree.

the boy scout trees have been moved to the greenspace along the bike path where it crosses cameron.

i've always been fond of the boy scout lot on the corner of cameron and mass ave.
with the new development they've now moved over to the small corner of greenspace at the point where the bicycle path crosses cameron (just down from the mass ave intersection).
