Hi friends!

Happy holidays! I hope all is well. Since you were all so helpful about my last inquiry, I am hoping you can help me with this one. I am in dire need of a good dentist in the immediate Davis/Somerville area. I haven't been insured or to a dentist in nearly six years and I have teeth in need of what I know will be major work. I had an extremely negative experience with my last dentist, so I have a bit of a phobia. I am looking for someone gentle and friendly to help get my teeth in shape. All recommendations are welcome!

Peace-

Heidi

I just found Davis Square Dental (http://boston.doctoroogle.com/reviews/viewdentist.cfm/pageID/8/dentistID/44890/somerville_dentist/dr_casey_cook) through DoctorOogle. They're highly rated and my one visit so far was pleasant. Unfortunately they're booked through March unless they get cancellations.

I started going to them after seeing so many glowing reviews here. They do rock just as much as advertised. I got in the first time on a cancellation, so it's worth calling even if you can't wait until March.

I was actually in a pretty similar situation - it'd been a good five years since I'd been to a dentist. Be prepared to for a whole series of visits - I've had initial x-rays and consult, 2 ultrasonic cleanings (half my mouth at at time, numbed up and everything), a check up, and then finally a regular cleaning and a couple of fillings. It's been a great lesson on why not to skip the dentist in the first place, insurance or no.

Seconded for Davis Sq Dental (on Holland right outside of Davis). They'll give you a call if they have a cancellation so you might be able to see them earlier.

Dr. Casey Cook is the best dentist in the whole world. I've been seeing him for six years.

Ditto that. I've been going to Dr. Cook for two years now, and he and his staff are phenomenal. They are all personable, sensitive, gentle, and thorough, and I've had nothing but good experiences there.

I use Dental Arts Associates - they're on Highland. (they also have a website, dentalartsassociates.com)

They're really nice and they explain what they're doing.

I LOVE my dentist, Dr. Herbert Dorris, on Mass Ave near Davis. He's a very good dentist and a genuinely nice guy, and I like his assistant too, whose name I forget.

Dr. Lina Al Aswad, right on Broadway in Teele Sq., is awesome!

I like Dr. Wilson at Cambridge Dental -- I went to him after about 7 years of no checkups (and only brushing once a day, no flossing). Granted, I turned out not to need any work, but at least the cleaning was painless and relatively bloodless.
