This might be a silly question, but why does every pizza place use white dough? Are there complications with whole wheat dough, and are there places around here that make whole wheat pizzas?

Make your own! Pizza dough is easy and kinda fun. And homemade pizza is always better.

You can find places that use whole wheat though, but I don't know whom off the top of my head. There's no real difficulty, but whole wheat isn't as popular for crust, probably because the taste doesn't jive as well with the usual pizza toppings (IMHO).

The take-out/delivery place we use all the time sells it.
They are down near Kendall and MIT.

the grain dust is coarser with whole wheat, yes? that decreases the surface-to-volume ratio. that means there's less surface tension between the water and the flour particles. that means the dough isn't as cohesive. and THAT means it's much harder to shape it, throw it, or get it to rise (bubbles have to be thicker-walled). it's also just heavier.

but anyway, white flour will not kill you, despite what south beach says.
