Denise Provost campaign kickoff

Alderman-at-Large Denise Provost is kicking off her campaign for State Representative with a party Monday evening, December 12. It will be at Sabur Restaurant, 212 Holland Street, from 6 to 8:30 pm.

Come meet Denise and, if you like her, sign up to help her campaign. The primary election is coming up very soon -- Tuesday, January 10, 2006.

Sorry I missed it, I was briefly away from Boston yesterday evening. How was it?

suffocatingly crowded. I knew Denise was popular, but I didn't realize just how popular.

Mayor Curtatone gave a long introduction and endorsement speech -- which surprised me, given how often Denise and Joe have been on the opposite sides of important issues (like Assembly Square, or the gang ordinance).

Other former, current, or future elected officials I saw there: former Mayor Gene Brune, Rep. Carl Sciortino, Sen. Jarrett Barrios, Ward 2 alderman Maryanne Heuston, Ward 6 alderman-elect Rebekah Gewirtz, Aldermen-at-Large Bill White and Dennis Sullivan, school committee member Roberta Bauer, and school committee members-elect Mark Niedergang and Paul Bockelman.

Also there were recently defeated candidates Marty Martinez (alderman-at-large), Jim Thomas (school committee), and Herby Duverne (school committee).

This is not necessarily a complete list, since I didn't get there until 7 pm and as I said, the room was intensely overcrowded.

Would you post a diary about it on Blue Mass Group? I'll recommend, if you do. BMG is trying to cover the special elections.

You have an account there, right? When you log in, and go to the front page, you'll see several account-related links at the top left. One of them is "new diary". If you click on that, you get to make a post of your own, which will show up in the "recent diaries" box along the right side of the front page. If people recommend it, it also pops up to the "recommended diaries" box, also on the right (but nearer the top).

Yes, "diary" is a poor choice of name, and confuses people. It comes from Scoop, the blog software used by Daily Kos and My DD. We actually recently had a discussion on BMG about it and decided that we'll soon change the software configs to rename diaries "user posts" instead.
