Anyone else taking the 96 from Davis Square noting how late it's been coming in the last few weeks? I finally got fed up and Wrote To the Top.

Anyone else who has noticed these problems, please do write in and let them know! Specifically for the 96, write to Lucius at lwebster @ mbta.com

In my letter, I mentioned 3 complaints:

  • that the 96 schedule in the College Ave exit has been ripped down and not replaced.

  • that despite Davis being a major stop on the 96 from Harvard to Medford, a time isn't noted on the schedule.

  • that the 96s between 5:20 and 6:30 have often been late, resulting in long waits (20+ min ) and very crowded buses.

I can empathize with the first 2 items. Well, I can empathize with all of them.

However, the third item, while something worth mentioning, is most likely beyond the control of the T. Traffic has been getting significantly worse, since the snowfall and the colder weather. It wouldn't suprise me if the bus left Harvard on time, or within a few minutes of on time, and lost 15-25 minutes between Harvard and Davis square.

Well, if all of them are late due to traffic, they should still come at regular intervals, but sadly you get the thing where an empty bus follows a full bus right away because the people getting on/off the full bus slow it down. If they had better communication they could mitifate this somewhat.

As someone who regularly takes the 96 from the Medford Square end of things, I've complained twice this year. Once, after numerous times of being at my stop (several further along from the Medford start point) at or before the scheduled time of departure from said start point, yet still had to wait a full interval for the next bus implying it either was early or nonexistent, and a second time after apparently the two seconds for myself and other prospective passengers to step out from under an awning and up to the curb in the pouring rain were too much for the driver and they slowed, didn't stop, and roared off without picking anyone up... got the specific bus number on that one, which hopefully means they had words with the driver.

My T experience isn't all that broad, so actually I have no idea how this compares to the rest of the system as a whole; I just know it's not what I consider acceptable either.

I like that his name is Lucius (because I'm picturing Malfoy Sr. working for the MBTA).

My understanding is that "missing bus syndrome" is what happens when someone calls in sick. No joke.

i've been really disappointed and have called numerous times during the year. after waiting for fifteen minutes in the cold on sunday night, i mentioned to the bus driver that she was late and asked for free admission. her response? "yeah, i'm fifteen minutes late. how are you?"

I regularly take the 80 bus to work in the mornings. On weekdays the bus is supposed to be at Powderhouse (my stop) at 7:26am.

Yesterday morning I was there at 7:22am. My coworker, who takes the same bus, was waiting at Boston Ave and Winthrop. The bus never came. I ended up walking to Davis and catching a cab to work. My coworker waited for the next bus and got to work 20 minutes late.

This morning I walked out of my house at 7:23am (running a little late), just in time to see the bus flying through Powderhouse (I can see the stop from my front porch).

Powderhouse is a listed stop on the schedule, but recently the 80 bus seems to be running overly early, to the point where people are missing the bus because of it.

Annoying...

Just figured I would gripe...
