I go to Elegant Tailor on Mass Ave between Porter and Harvard (near Cambridge Common/Lizard Lounge) for all my alterations. I love them.

They're about $20 - $35 to take in a skirt, depending on how they need to do it; my boyfriend just took his ski jacket in for multiple little repairs, and the total for that is $50. Thing is, she sews well; I've never had to have something she's mended repaired again.

I had a bad experience with Christopher's in Teele. I had a bridesmaid dress fitted there, and after two fittings I went back to pick it up (the day before I had to leave for the wedding). The woman didn't have me try it on again to be sure, and it ended up not fitting at *all*. I had to safety-pin it so I wouldn't fall out of my dress at my father's wedding.
