venue/location recommendations for a monthly public game night in Davis Square

My website Exploit Boston has been hosting game nights around Boston and Somerville since last summer. I am curious about locations for game nights in Davis Square. If you have a suggestion for a spot that might be a good location, let me know. In particular, the location needs to have 8+ tables that can fit a game suitable for a minimum of four players and they need to be open until at least 9pm, preferably until 11pm. If a game night is held at whatever location you recommend, I'll give you some free games that I've been collecting from game companies for prizes/giveaways.

Well, there's the obvious Diesel...

...btw, what happened to hosting at True Grounds? Was it just too crowded?

It might happen again at True Grounds but if it does, likely on a Saturday afternoon. They aren't inclined to stay open past 7pm. I'd really prefer to have this be an evening shindig.

A shame, that. I guess the new restaurant hasn't really brought much night-time business to the square like they had hoped?

But like I said, Diesel is a good option... much bigger than True Grounds, they even have some games already, and they're open until midnightish, later on the weekend. And they're right in Davis, so there's no fussing for people who don't want to take busses up to Teele.

Do they have a rationale for this? I almost never go there because they just aren't open when I'm at home. I figure they'd pick up a lot more after work Davis traffic if they would just stay open till 9 or so, especially since they are the only place in the area with free wifi. I'd much rather go there than Diesel or Someday at this point, if it were an option.

Their rational seems to be money/business oriented. They stayed open late for a few months in 2004 from what I remember. I'll ask them if they want to chime in. I don't work there so I'm not official messenger on their behalf.

If anyone who wants to do game night 7pm-10pm during the work week would like to help round up 20+ people who will each spend $5-7 minimum while playing games, I'm sure we can make it happen (aka twist their arm). :)

Speaking of game night, maybe you can join us in Allston tomorrow night?
