Hi all,

This is the first year I've had to pay taxes in MA and was wondering where I can pick up a local income tax form? I've already paid my federal and state, but am unsure how local taxes work here. I haven't received any tax forms in the mail! Do these forms come from the city, county, or what? I'm from Pennsylvania, which has townships, so I'm a little lost as to who exactly will be taxing me!

Thanks a bunch.

Don't feel dumb -- it can be very hard to acquire negative information without asking people directly.

Yes well. We get taxed enough on other stuff--my excise tax on my car came yesterday.

My guess is, in theory it's about actually having the people with cars paying for the roads and so on. Not that I have any faith it usefully works out that way, though...

MA is actually about middle of the road in terms of tax burden, among US states. The taxes most people have to deal with are state income tax, state sales tax, state meals tax, municipal property tax if you own real estate, and municipal excise tax if you have a car.
