Date: 2006-03-07 08:02 pm (UTC)I wish our apartments were that cheap, but you couldn't rent a doghouse for that around here. :-) You don't have to delete or anything, but you're on the wrong coast.

I rent a very fine apartment in Davis. We pay 500 dollars, each, monthly.
It is qualitatively finer than a doghouse.
If we parse her sentence, we find that: "you couldn't rent a doghouse for that around here." is incorrect.
Two relevant items here--
*I never mentioned a jacuzzi, and neither did our friendly moderator. :)
*I put a lot of work into finding a great deal on my rent, and am proud of my arrangement.
I'm not looking for an apology, just a nod at the logic. :-)

First, to nitpick, you didn't say Davis in your first comment, you said Somerville. I don't know where in/around Davis you are, but specifics can result in considerable variation. Somerville is a reasonably large town and the area some people (especially realtors) call Davis is not as small as I think of it, either.
Second, you didn't say how many people are sharing your place, how much non-bedroom space there, other amenities, etc, which is also relevant to the general issue.
Third, you don't know how nice of a home plumtreeblossom expects for her dog. In fact, it may be that your apartment would not be good enough, no matter how happy you may be with it yourself. Woof.
(But of course, mostly she was clearly playing off the original post, which did mention all those amenities. By comparison, much of Somerville is probably a doghouse.)

I figured the OP had one of the rooms, so as long as it was at least a 2 bedroom it would be relevant. As it happens, we've got 3 floors, I'm on the 3rd. It's an enormous studio room (for a painter) and I've got an attic attached.
But, yeah. I've been really anal these past few days, I got a new job and am struggling a little bit.
