I HAVE A ROOM AVAILABLE. IT IS THE MASTER BEDROOM WITH A WALK IN CLOSET. THE APARTMENT HAS A POOL, GYM, JACUZZI, AND A STUDY LOUNGE WITH WIRELESS INTERNET. IT IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE. MY LAST ROOMMATE TURNED OUT TO BE EXTREMELY UNREALIABLE AND LEFT ME WITH THE ROOM. SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT ME. I AM VERY FRIENDLY, AND EASY TO GET ALONG WITH. THE ROOM GOES FOR $500

You don't have to shout. We can hear you just fine.

What talonvaki means is that typing in all-caps makes it look like you're shouting and nobody will read what you write regardless of how interesting it might be.

Out of curiosity, is this even in or near Davis Square? The one in Somerville, MA? I see that your profile says you live in Los Angeles, and I can't possible imagine an apartment in Somerville that has a "MASTER BEDROOM," never mind "A WALK IN CLOSET," "POOL," "GYM," "JACUZZI," or "A STUDY LOUNGE."

And I'll eat my own poop if it's a 2BR with all that, in Somerville, for approximately $500 x2.

Yikes, now I have to stick around for the resolution and see if you have to eat your own poop. :-)

I figure it's a safe bet, due to the [livejournal.com profile] ucdavis thing pointed out below. :)

And her profile says she belongs to the [livejournal.com profile] ucdavis community; UC Davis is about an hour and a half east of San Francisco.

Oh, maybe there's another Davis Square out there then. Wouldn't surprise me.

Psssst, dude, I think you're in the wrong Davis. This is Davis Square in Somerville, MA, not California.

I wish our apartments were that cheap, but you couldn't rent a doghouse for that around here. :-) You don't have to delete or anything, but you're on the wrong coast.

We rent a house in Somerville for 500 each a month. So...

Time to change your mind. ;)

Wow, two of you share a place in Davis Square with a pool, gym, jacuzzi, and study lounge for $500 each? I'm not even sure the last time I saw a 2BR in Davis for $1K even without those perks. Must be some kinda deal.

Do you jam your way into conversations in real life with irrelevant commentary as well? :P

Lemme try to walk you through this real quick :)

I rent a very fine apartment in Davis. We pay 500 dollars, each, monthly.
It is qualitatively finer than a doghouse.

If we parse her sentence, we find that: "you couldn't rent a doghouse for that around here." is incorrect.

Two relevant items here--

*I never mentioned a jacuzzi, and neither did our friendly moderator. :)
*I put a lot of work into finding a great deal on my rent, and am proud of my arrangement.

I'm not looking for an apology, just a nod at the logic. :-)

You make some good points and I will happily nod at you. *nodnod*

HOWEVER.

First, to nitpick, you didn't say Davis in your first comment, you said Somerville. I don't know where in/around Davis you are, but specifics can result in considerable variation. Somerville is a reasonably large town and the area some people (especially realtors) call Davis is not as small as I think of it, either.

Second, you didn't say how many people are sharing your place, how much non-bedroom space there, other amenities, etc, which is also relevant to the general issue.

Third, you don't know how nice of a home plumtreeblossom expects for her dog. In fact, it may be that your apartment would not be good enough, no matter how happy you may be with it yourself. Woof.

(But of course, mostly she was clearly playing off the original post, which did mention all those amenities. By comparison, much of Somerville is probably a doghouse.)

This occured to me and you are exactly right, I can't possibly assume her standards. :P

'Second, you didn't say how many people are sharing your place, how much non-bedroom space there, other amenities, etc, which is also relevant to the general issue.'

I figured the OP had one of the rooms, so as long as it was at least a 2 bedroom it would be relevant. As it happens, we've got 3 floors, I'm on the 3rd. It's an enormous studio room (for a painter) and I've got an attic attached.

But, yeah. I've been really anal these past few days, I got a new job and am struggling a little bit.
