i think they have a sewing machine you can use on the premises at spark crafts down the street from brooks. you probably have to pay a daily-visit fee but they could give you the details there.
I bought a used one on Craigslist for $50. If you're needing to rent for longer than a few hours, going ahead and buying might save you money in the end.
I was gonna recommend that you try Spark Crafts as well. They do have crafting tools for people to use but I'm not sure about a sewing machine. Here's their contact info: http://sparkcrafts.com/contact/
The Elm St. place does rent them, but requires it to be for a 2-week stint at a time. I think it's $40 or so for those 2 weeks? You're better off with some of these other options...
