Hi guys...thanks for all the help yesterday with my question about licensing for my new kitty :)

I know that people here have often recommended Porter Square Veterinary so I made an appointment for him there. Well, I just came from my appointment and wanted to second, third, fourth, fifth, etc that recommendation.

The facilities were super clean and the staff and vet were all super nice and friendly.

My kitty had a really good experience there and I wanted to just put it out there again for any other new pet owners :)

Here's the information:

Porter Square Veterinarian

Which vet did you use?

I just had to switch (my old vet there left) to Dr. Roosen. She's really nice and good, but unfortunately, only Dr. Stewart was able to handle the demon kitty.

heh, my other cat is a big lump of love and he was pretty much the same as yours. he crawled up on the scale and took a nap.

my other...cat(?) hisses, scratches, meows, screams, and then will get so worked up he snorts! And that's just when the vet wants to examine his belly.

what's funny is within 5 seconds of being home, he will crawl up on your lap and purr and act like nothing happened

I like Dr. Parker; Dr. Leavy was handling my cats. Dr. Parker seems to be good with cats.

I moved here 6 years ago; Harri and Patrick (icon) have been going there since then. Harri is 15 with thyroid issues, Patrick is 12 with dental and weight issues. I think they're great, and the fact that I can walk to the office makes it even better.

I have a very independenty cat who can be feisty sometimes. She has never scratched anybody, but we know to let her go when she no longer wants to be restrained. Dr. Parker, Dr. Cohen, and Dr. Wilson were all excellent with her (I especially liked Dr. Parker).

However, last time we were in we saw a Dr. ---ski (can't recall his name right now), and he did not know how to deal with a feisty cat. He ended up calling someone in to throw a towel over her head, and hold her down in order to check her out. When he was finished, she ran to a corner and hiss/growled at anybody who came close...and he took the kennel and *chased* her around the room saying "You get to go in the kennel now and go home!" I had to step in and say "Uh, give me a few minutes and I'll get her" before he would stop. Then he suggested "If you continue to have trouble, just come get us and we'll get a towel and throw it over her head to get her in the kennel." and joked about "putting a star in her file so we know she's feisty." I couldn't believe it.

She was so annoyed, I couldn't go near her without her growling and hissing at me. I have never seen her this upset. It took about a solid five minutes to calm her, then I was able to pick her up and easily placed her back into the kennel. By the time we got home she was perfectly peachy.

So beware of this particular doctor, if you have a kitty who does not like people who chase them with kennels. *rolleyes*

Ha! I've heard of that guy and was warned to avoid him (I too forget his name).

But seriously, Dr. Roosen is really great and I think I'll use her again, but Noodles is just awful. And he has to go to the vet a lot so I think he's just getting fed up with it. He growls and hisses at his brother when he comes home with that "vet smell."

I had a pretty bad experience with them with my little Pooh Bear. They were never able to diagnose what he had, even after two years of me bringing him in and telling them that he was sick. They wouldn't give me his x-rays or let me even borrow them to make copies after he died. And once, when my little guy had peed on himself (in his carrier, on the way to the vet) they left him covered in pee all day while they were testing him.

I never did get to see Dr. Leavy, who I heard was good.
