Just in case anyone happened to see this accident around 820 this morning:

On the corner of Boston Ave/College Ave a block from Tufts a girl got hit by a car. I was going straight and was stopped at a red light and the girl crossing had a walk symbol but apparently a car turning left either didnt see her walking, or was taking the turn too fast and couldnt stop or the car was already going and the girl didnt stop Im unsure. Anyways...she fell down, dropped her bag and coffee and I immediately called 911, however the car pulled over and the girl hobbled back to the corner she started and went into the coffee shop she had come out of and she looked hurt and crying. I proceeded thru my green light because A. I saw the car pull into the parking lot and I assumed they were getting out and B. I had a dog in the car getting extremely car sick at the time so I figured calling 911 was good seeing as the hitter was pulled over and the girl obviously wasnt extremely hurt plus other people were stopped.

Well about 10-15 mins later the police called me back and wanted to know if I wrote the plate number down because apparently THEY LEFT. who the hell hits someone and then leaves?!? I didnt write it down and all I could remember was that it was a gold car maybe a camry or accord im not sure :/ They said if i remember please call back asap. Figured Id mention here and if you saw what happened or the car please call Medford police.

Sorry to post the same comment in both places, but ... Boston Avenue and Medford Street don't intersect. They are parallel. Can you check again the location where you saw this?

I edited it out. I dont know why I said medford street...it was college ave/boston. Thanks for catching that :)

That sounds awful; I hope you find someone who saw this.

That intersection was one of the many that recently got "fixed" to be even worse than before in the area. I don't know what traffic planners are thinking, but it's clear none of them drive, walk or bike at all.

although, im not so sure this girl was a Tufts student...she might have been though. who knows. either way its terrible.

im still thinking about this, the person more than likely will get caught...and then they will be in way more trouble (hit and run now) so why bother leaving in the first plaCE?!

Wow. I live *right* at that intersection. I was long gone by the time it happened though. I hope she's okay. I really dislike walking in our neighborhood because so many drivers are so reckless, especially trying to cross that stupid rotary.

I saw it too. It was a woman and I thought it was a dark wine color car like a Camry but as the OP said, I figured they pulled over and matters would sort themselves out. I called 911 and gave them my account of the accident. I swear I thought the girl was going to be killed -only that she lifted up her head as she hit the ground she was in big trouble. Unfortunately I didn't get the reg as I was in a hurry. I'm so kicking myself that I didn't stop. Everything would be ok if I did and that evil woman driving would not be on the run!!!
