Zounds, it is nice outside. I hereby propose:

davis_square Meetup
Wednesday Evening, 7:30ish, June 7th
Around Davis Square
If the weather is nice, get some J.P. Licks and hang around outside.
If not so nice, Mike's for food and drink.
Wear a name tag, and bring something fun to share!
Talk amongst yourselves.

That's a nice idea. I don't have rehearsal, so I could come.

You might want to pick a more specific meet-up spot than "around Davis" though. Davis is big when you think about it terms of RL meetups.

If the weather is nice, the easiest place I can think of is the bench & table area near where JP Lick's is. People could just wander in as they get there, grab ice cream if they want, and hang.

If it's yucky, Diesel or Someday are a good bet.

Way too small. There are only a handful of seats (which are always occupied), and the store is clogged with the long ice cream line. Best to pick somewhere with some room, and people can simply drop in when they can. Goddess bless Diesel.

Not Mike's, though. It's just a distasteful atmosphere, and you can't really meet with a group there if the group is more than 4 and hope to get a table.

2) Mike's is one of the more controversial subjects here at davis_square. Some people love it, some hate it. I'm one of the "love it" crowd, myself.

Don't get yourself down about the negative people -- some of them are actually folks who are interested but just trying to make sure it happens successfully.

(Also, I thought cleanup's response was rather unnecessarily rude and accusatory and your reply was a lot less snippy than I would have been in your position, so good on ya. :)

I'll even throw in reasons why one might choose Mike's over RedBones for this sort of event:
- Mike's is generally cheaper
- You can see the sidewalk from inside, and folks outside can see in
- There is outdoor seating
- It's a lot quieter and better lit
