Someone seems to know that I bank at Wainwright -- maybe by reading this LJ. This someone sent me an e-mail claiming to come from Wainwright Bank, but directing me to click a link whose actual URL starts with http://www.obsudim.com/ . Which is located in Kiev, Ukraine. The page looks exactly like the real Wainwright Bank online banking page.

If this person is lurking here then he may have sent the same fraudulent e-mail to some of you. Beware!
I'm going to print it out tomorrow and take it into the Davis Square office.

there are tons of those emails floating around, they get huge lists of banks and create a spam with "Please check your (Insert bank name here) account, enter your PIN at this page" here. You didn't get targeted, you'll see a million of those type of emails.

I've gotten emails claiming to be from Wainwright, and I don't have an account with them.

Also Citizen's, PayPal, eBay, etc etc etc

Also, Wainwright is aware of it--if you go to their website, they'll ask you to forward the email to them and then delete it.

I've gotten them from small, obscure west coast banks that I don't have accounts with.

it's called phishing -just one of those email badnesses -I wouldn't waste my time and paper printing it out and bringing it to the bank.
