Printing

Hi folks,
I'd like to have some business cards printed. Anywhere around Davis that has good service? I checked out some places online, but after thinking it over I decided I'd rather talk to someone so I can explain exactly what I'd like done. Also considered just buying some Avery paper and print it out myself, but that options seems to be more costly.

Have you checked with Sir Speedy, on the plaza next to Starbucks?

Yep... Sir Speedy is the only place I can think of that's right in Davis. If you don't like their prices and want to stay local you could try Gnomon in Porter Square. (http://cambridge.zami.com/Copying_&_Duplicating_Service/Porter_Square) And then there always Kinkos in Harvard Square which I've seen good results from.

I recently used an online company called VistaPrint (http://www.vistaprint.com) which I was surprised to learn is in Lexington, MA. They are very popular and you can even get free business cards from them but for those they put their logo on the back. I did the non-free ones and they did a nice job. They mock up an online proof for you to see before you buy.

Oh yeah... and if you do want to just print your own, I highly recommend the "clean edge" business card paper that you run through your printer. It looks so much more professional than the perforated paper. It's cool how they just pop out with perfectly clean edges.

I've had good (though non-business card) experiences printing at Classic Copy in Central Square. I know that they have more extensive services than Sir Speedy, which is a pretty basic shop.

I looked at VistaPrint - I've made my own design to upload, and their template allows one image. I made my cards so that they're all the same, except different color schemes, and wanted to see who would print them like that. VistaPrint only lets me upload one of my colors scheme. :\ Otherwise, they seem like a pretty decent place to get cards made. Thanks! Oh and thanks for the tip on the "clean edge" papers. I may have to print some out for this weekend.

my friend is a massage therapist in the area and does her work with papersource right outside of porter. dunno the cost, tho.
