OK, so I need a maternity bridesmaid dress in September. Uh...where do I look? (I have a car and can travel if I have to, but prefer places I can walk/T/bike to.)

How maternity maternity? I was five months along when I was a made of honor at someone's wedding, and we just bought a regular dress two sizes larger — it works well with some dresses. Might be easier and cheaper than finding a special dress.

If not, look in Motherhood Maternity outlet downtown (very close to Downtown Crossing T station) — I liked shopping there for other pregnancy clothing, too, and they have some nifty dresses/pretty sparkly pants sets.

Why did I not know about this outlet when I was pregnant?! Oh well. For next time, if she ever decides to give us enough peace that we decide we want there to be a next time. :)

I think by the next time I'm pregnant, all of my friends would have gone through at least one pregnancy, and we tend to just pack all the maternity clothes and give to one another (I gave all of mine to a couple of people), so by that point I should have enough to chose from just from what I'll get from them :).

I had only a slight bump. That is, it wasn't that slight, but as far as dresses went, anything that didn't have much of a waistline worked just fine.

Most of the major bridesmaids dress manufacturers have a maternity dress (sometimes two!) E.g., http://www.watters.com/catalog_list.php?do=header&silhouette=maternity

I'd suggest calling local bridal shops (e.g., Camilla's in Arlington Center, which I like because I kind of wandered in there in jeans and a t-shirt and fuzzy hair and said, um, I need a bridesmaid's dress, and they were nice to me, and I know from grave experience that this is unusual) and asking if they have maternity dress samples.
