west coast swing dance classes

After a possibility of the class cancelling due to space issues, the Cambridge Center for Adult Education has confirmed we have space for the Wednesday night 8 week beginner series.

The classes start this Wednesday, June 14, at 7:15 and run for an hour, with a half hour of practice time after.

The website for registration is www.ccae.org , or you can call them at 617-547-6789.

Again, this is a Beginner series, so it would be appropriate for people new to west coast swing, people looking for a refresher, or if they are looking to switch lead/follow.

heh. the original post had "(shameless self promotion)" as the first line. I must not have copied all the way up when I reposted.

The instructor is me, I have been dancing west coast for five years, teaching for three, and was a ballroom, latin, and east coast swing dancer and instructor prior to that.

Now, I don't really know *anything* about dancing, nevermind swing... but...

I might be interested. Except that, due to work, I might end up missing a couple weeks (maybe even 50%) ... is the class structured in a way that would make that a horrible thing?

Also, is not having any dance experience going to hinder me too much?

Well, the class is an 8 week series, that you pay for in a lump sum. It will depend on how often you miss and how quickly you pick things up how detrimental missing will be.

There are currently no "make up" classes scheduled, but the Cambridge Center might be willing to set up a time where that would be feasible.

It is a beginner series, designed for people that haven't danced before, so don't worry about that!

we have hopes of it running again in the fall, but don't have a day of the week pinned down yet.

check out www.danceboston.com for west coast swing, cha cha, salsa and night club two step on monday, tuesday, thursday & friday, on a drop in basis... you don't have to pay for a series.

AC is good, though the notice was still too short for me to make this round work out. I'll keep my eye out for the fall classes. (Whenabouts would fall term start so I can leave myself a reminder?)
