The click for details link doesn't describe much more about the event. What's it for? What does livable streets do? Why does it need a fundraiser? Enquiring minds want to know!
I don't know if you're going to get any response to your question. push_stars seems to be a pseudonomous account just for the purpose of sending promotional messages to LJ groups. It doesn't have any actual content.
I looked at their website, and they seem to be an organization that pushes cities to have more infrastructure for public transportation, bicycles, and pedestrians. So they need money to pay for their publicity?
I assumed everyone was more familiar with this group as I have seen some other posts here about livable streets. In the past, Jeff has been involved here and invited to attend Davis Square Task force meetings to share his experience in bringing vibrant retail to some of the vacant storefronts. He is also involved in smart urban planning and improving public transportation in the boston area in general. If you are interested, you can find more information about Livablestreets here: http://www.livablestreets.info/ His newsletters are informative too, I posted something he had about the construction scheduled for Somerville ave, and an issue with the width of bike paths that included a GPS map of the all reported bike accidents in the area.
I went to the website and found it difficult to navigate or get a sense of the need for fundraising, that's why I would have liked more explanatory text with the original LJ post.
