Here I am with a shameless plug:

Spare Change News Goes

Now being printed by MassWeb Printing (which is owned by the Boston Phoenix's parent company), Spare Change News is 400 percent more colorful than it was a week ago! The style and format of the paper has changed into a full-color tabloid, but the focus is still on reporting issues of poverty and homelessness, along with an increased focus on alternative news and arts coverage that you can't get anywhere else.

Spare Change News is sold for a dollar throughout the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville/Brookline areas, and every copy you buy puts 75 cents in the hands of someone who really needs it.

Where are the funds coming from to colorize the paper?
Last I heard (and my info is about two years old), the Homeless Empowerment Project was skimping back...

the cost of printing in color (over 2-color or even 1-color) is incredibly minimal. Color ink costs the same, generally you're just paying for the overhead of a more expensive machine.

I do buy it, but I think folks would be more inclined to do so if it had anything worth reading inside.

I buy Space Change regularly. But I have to ask--what on earth is up with that cover pictured above? "Girls with guns?" I don't see how a comparison of Israeli and US college-age young people is relevant to Spare Change's focus, which you describe as "issues of poverty and homelessness, along with an increased focus on alternative news and arts coverage that you can't get anywhere else." The headline and accompanying picture are absurd.

Please don't let a switch to a tabloid layout mean that you're adopting the cover-design philosophy of tabloids like the Herald. That would be a real shame
