I have been posting my sleeper sofa and washing machine on Craigslist for the past two or three weeks, but so far have only had a bunch of "really interested" never get back to my response or people flake out at the last minute. The sleeper sofa is FREE and Maytag Special Edition, large capacity washing machine (purchased new for more than $500 about 5 years ago. I was originally asking $200, but now i'll take $100/obo).

I MUST get rid of them both of these no later than this coming Friday, June 30. The pick-up address is close to Teele and Davis Squares

Can you describe the sleeper sofa a little bit?

If you get no hits, you could either put them out on the sidewalk and hope someone drives by and takes it... or put them out and call the trash service to pick it up. Or.. you might be able to donate somewhere.

I hate craigslist so much sometimes.

I finally did this for my futon:

"Free Futon, was put in front of my apartment at [address] at 8:00 this morning. First one there wins."

It was gone when I got home. Good enough for me.

If that fails, there is always the cleansing power of fire.

In the future, Freecycle is a good way to give stuff away. There's a mailing list for Somerville, another for Arlington, another for Cambridge.

When I lived in the boonies we burnt a whole lot of stuff ('cause there wasn't any reliable trash pick-up)...but burning furniture in Somerville? Have you actually tried it?
Burning stuff is fun, but I always feel a little bad re: the environment.
