Davis Square's annual ArtBeat festival will take place Friday evening and Saturday, July 14 and 15. This year's theme is "reCycle/reNew".

Last year I bought a 10% off card from some local kids who were raising money for their school. The card paid for itself in about 2 trips to Red Bones. It was good for a whole bunch of the local restaurants and businesses. Does anyone know if they will be selling these again?

That sounds like the Brown School Community Card. I've bought them for two years running, but from people I knew at public meetings. The current one expires on August 31. I don't know if the new one is available yet.

Where do they re-route buses to? mbta.com is being singularly unhelpful, and I may be trying to catch an 87 from Davis around 11am.

That is a good question that I don't know the answer to. In my experience, MBTA.com often announces these diversions, but not until a day or two before the event. From the MBTA's Write to the Top page, here is the person responsible for the #87 bus:

if i get there around five o'clock, would i be too late for the vendors and to see the art projects?

I think 6 is the official end time for the festival. There are live music shows scheduled for 4:30 and 5 (on two different stages).

Some of the vendors start to pack up around 5:30 so they can be out when the event ends at 6. So if you can get there earlier I would recommend it. If you can only get there after 5, you should still go, but you'll have missed out on a lot.

thanks so much for the info. what a bummer - this is the 3rd year in a row that i've already had plans to go to tanglewood :(
