I've been looking around on a couple of town websites, and they're well-nigh impossible to navigate. Is there any information available about when trash and recycling are going out this week, since tuesday is a holiday?

Edit: I have sufficient information now. Thank you.

It's typically a day later.

The website says "a day later on holiday weeks".

Well, there's not going to be any pickup on Tuesday. That's a no-brainer. So Tuesday and onward will be a day late.

It seems likely to me that there will be pickup on Monday; it's not a state holiday or anything.

On the Recycling page of the City of Somerville website, at http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/section.cfm?org=Environ&page=108 (http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/section.cfm?org=Environ&page=108).

http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/ is the city's website. It contains all of the city's press releases, and an assortment of other information, sometimes helpful.

The city website has most things eventually, but it is a pain to search. I usually end up clicking on links for a while and not trying to search at all.

The new "most frequently requested links" list is helpful. Therein I found:
http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/Works.cfm?page=28
which on the sidebar has a link to "curbside recycling pickup", which led to the page:
http://www.ci.somerville.ma.us/section.cfm?org=Environ&page=108
which contains the phrase:

"Holiday weeks: your trash/recycling will be picked up one day after your regularly scheduled trash day."

But honestly, I just poked around on the webpage until I found something that confirmed my first suspicions, which was "no trash pickup on state holidays, and the rest of the week's pickup is bumped forward."

One Day Late after July 4

If your trash day is Monday it will be Monday
If your trash day is Tuesday it will be Wednesday
If your trash day is Wednesday it will be Thursday
etc.

If you can't find it on the website and you don't believe the people telling you this, then on Monday call 311 and ask them. That is why they are there.

This page on the website tells you that July 4 causes a one day delay in trash pickup.

If you don't know what 311 service is this page on the website tells you.

See the first link in my reply. It tells you that July 4 is included as a non Monday holiday.

I called the DPW on Friday. Monday is a normal trash day. Tuesday is a holiday, so "Tuesday and later" will be affected.

I know no one will see this but I want to bitch. 311 told me Monday wouldn't be a trash day. They were apparently wrong. Grr.
