Horseback riding lessons within T/bike of Somerville

(I think this is on-topic, but if a moderator doesn't think so, feel free to kill)

Anyone know where I can take horseback riding lessons (English and/or Western) around here? Preferably something reachable within an hour or so by T or bike. So far I've found a few places along the south shore (Quincy/Hingham/etc), but would love to hear of more places.

i would check with myopia hunt club in hamilton to see if either they do it or they can point you to some stables on the north shore that can help. good luck & if you wouldn't mind posting your results I would love to see them (I'm interested in this too). :-)

Davis Farm in Bedford. But I don't know of any public transport out there...(may be on commuter line???)

Bus #62 runs from Alewife to Bedford, but not on Sundays. It's a long bus ride. The farm is probably at least a half-hour walk from a bus stop.

Any idea if they offer lessons? Their website (http://www.edfarm.com/) doesn't say, and the only other information I found online about them and lessons claims they don't (http://boston.citysearch.com/profile/4638930/).

They have people there who teach, but I don't think they have school horses--but I'm not sure. I don't ride myself; I know someone who has a lease with a horse there and takes lessons there as well, and is very pleased with the teachers and the lease on the horse.

I also know some people who ride a Four Fillies Farm, which I do believe has a school program, but I don't know any more about it than that. As in, I'm not even sure what town it's in.

Sorry--trying here, several of my friends are into horses but I'm not...
