The restaurant at 400 Highland Avenue has closed, a little over three months after it opened. A sign in front says that anyone holding a gift certificate should redeem it at Joshua Tree.

Meanwhile, it looks like the Rosebud is going to give their back room another try. The sign now says La Spina - Authentic Neapolitan Cuisine. Don't know when it's going to open, but presumably soon.

It's true that there are 500,000+ hits for it on Google, but there are 2 million+ for "neapolitan", and my standard online dictionary only recognizes the latter.

Enh. My entire sense of history comes from the classical Mediterranean, in which it is always and only Neapolis, and Neopolis would be clearly ungrammatical. So I shudder at the idea of "Neopolitan".

Jimmy says differently:

(My desk dictionary and online dictionary both have it as an alternate, and it only takes one source to matter. Grammatically, neo- makes more sense in English.)
