I am teaching an electronics class this week to some kids, and we'd like to do a hack we found in Make magazine involving an RC car. Unfortunately, we don't have any cars, and those within our budget are itsy-bitsy. I know there are lots of geeky type people in the area with loads of electronics gizmos lying around. If anyone has an old RC car they'd like to donate, please let me know ASAP.

Also, if anyone has any ideas about good (cheap) electronics projects for students who are visually impaired, that would be awesome.

Thanks.

It's out of season for this sort of thing, I'm afraid. In my experience, the best time and place to stock up cheaply on your non-holonomic drivetrain of choice (that is, R/C Cars) is Radio Shack just after Christmas.

That said, bargains can often be had at Odd Lots/Ocean State Job Lots/National Wholesale Liquidators

Usually one can get an R/C vehicle about the size of a man's shoe from them for around fifteen dollars. It's not cheap if you need dozens of them, but it's not expensive if you only need a couple.

I haven't got any sitting around that haven't already been autonomized, I'm afraid, or I'd send them your way.
